History, with evidence
AI Model Timeline
Follow Anthropic, OpenAI and xAI releases in their own lineages. First public access anchors each release; announcements, general availability and access surfaces stay separate. Open any release to inspect its sources.
Research and drafting were AI-assisted, and every record was reviewed by a person. How we use AI. Forecasts are our estimates, not provider statements or advice.

About this timeline
Independent. The AI Model Timeline is an independent reference compiled by EggBlox LLC. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI. Provider and model names are used only to identify the products they describe, and belong to their owners. This page uses no provider logos or brand marks.
Forecasts are estimates. Forecasts are this site’s own statistical estimates, drawn from the dated history shown. They are not statements, plans or announcements by any provider, and they are not financial or investment advice. Settings you change yourself, and horizons beyond what we validated, are labelled unvalidated scenarios.
Prices and results change. Prices, availability and benchmark results are accurate as of the date and source shown, and may have changed since. Check the provider’s own page before you rely on one.
How the evidence was gathered. AI research agents helped gather and draft the evidence, and a person reviewed every record before it was added. Forecasts are statistical formulas, not AI. Details are on How we use AI.
Neutral by design. Anthropic and OpenAI both supply AI tools used to research a comparison that includes their own models. To keep that fair, claims that favour any provider face the same evidence bar, a claim that favours the provider of the agent that drafted it gets an extra check, and source disagreements are shown rather than averaged. Each value links to its source in the evidence drawer.
Corrections. If something is wrong, email contact@nettacular.com with a link to a source we can verify. We keep the earlier value on record as superseded rather than overwriting it.
Data sources and credits. Sources and attribution lists the credit each source asks for.
